Run flags

FlagMeaning
--home DIRHome directory; otherwise ZAGENT_HOME or executable directory
--workspace DIR, -wWorking folder; defaults to current directory
--session NAME, -sCreate or resume a named session
--sessionResume the most recent session for this workspace, or create one
--newForce a new session
--prompt TEXT, -pTask text
--prompt-file PATHRead prompt text from a file; - reads stdin

--output NPrint the last N transcript lines
--jsonPrint run events as JSON lines
--verbose, -vStream model text and activity
--quiet, -qSuppress progress output

Put run flags before a positional prompt. Prefer --prompt when writing scripts. Windows PowerShell examples use .\zagent.exe unless the executable is on PATH.

Slash commands

CommandEffect
/helpList built-in and custom commands
/stopInterrupt the ordinary running turn and discard queued prompts
/note TEXTAppend a note to the next request
/compactRequest a continuation summary
/statusShow state, usage, and tasks
/tasksList background tasks
/toolsList active tools
/workspace PATHChange workspace when the engine permits it
/resumeRetry immediately during a network pause
/exitDetach the interface; agent can keep running
/quitStop the engine process
/newAsk the client to start a fresh session; the browser provides launch instructions

Output and exit codes

The final answer goes to stdout; progress and diagnostics go to stderr. --json and --output change the stdout format.

CodeMeaning
0Successful CLI completion
1Task or execution failure
2Usage or configuration error
3Session already owned and cannot be attached
130Interrupted

For automated business workflows, independently verify the intended outcome. A known remote/background completion limitation in this preview means CLI success is not a sufficient business completion signal.
